A New Movement in Personal Oxygen Systems There are times when there simply is no equal. No other oxygen conserver is capable of delivering the saturation performance and conservation efficiency of SmartDose. At best, competitive conservers deliver the same oxygen dose at every breath, regardless of user need. At worst, they deliver less oxygen as the user requires more.With fixed-dose conservers, patients more frequently experience sensations of “breathlessness.” These periods of desaturation stress vital organs, limit ambulation, and ultimately decrease longevity. Delivering dosage at a mean average frequently starves the user when increased flow is required, and wastes oxygen when a mean average dose is greater than required. Only SmartDose automatically monitors and adjusts dosage based on the user’s activity level. SmartDose delivers the ideal balance of saturation and conservation. When oxygen requirements are low, SmartDose reduces output so that oxygen isn’t wasted.When requirements increase, SmartDose delivers a dose adequate to keep the user properly saturated. Because the entire process occurs automatically, patient involvement with the device is greatly reduced. How do patients respond to manual units on the market? Other products require constant manual adjustment. Unfortunately, most patients are not proficient at this task. Once  moving, they get breathless before thinking to increase oxygen output. At that point, they sit down and turn up their oxygen!  At rest, they tend to leave oxygen flow higher than necessary. The end result is undersaturation during exertion, and oversaturation with wasted oxygen at rest. Now SmartDose Auto-Adjusting System! With SmartDose, the unit recognizes exertion changes very quickly and adjusts the dose accordingly. The user’s dose is continually matched to their exertion level, so they are less likely to get breathless and can continue to ambulate.When their activity is finished, the unit adjusts back down quickly to minimize waste. The Genious Behind SmartDose: Auto-adjusting is what puts SmartDose in a class of its own. No other portable on the market incorporates the necessary intelligent technology that enables SmartDose to automatically and continuously monitor and adjust dosing according to the user’s demand. The brain behind SmartDose is a microprocessor that constantly monitors and interprets the  pressure transducer.This microprocessor monitors the user’s requirements for each and every individual breath. Using sophisticated algorithms, instructions are instantaneously sent to the multi-valve mechanism to deliver the appropriate oxygen dose. A second technological distinction that only SmartDose offers is a unique multi-valve mechanism. Utilizing one 4 LPM valve and one 8 LPM valve, SmartDose can deliver the necessary doses from either valve in isolation, or both valves in combination. In conjunction with the microprocessor-controlled pressure transducer, SmartDose always delivers at the lowest flow for quiet operation. With this multi-valve configuration, the right volume transmission to a remote PC within the clinical environment, or to a simple SD memory card. Utilizing the CODR (Clinical Oxygen Dose Recorder), the clinician is free to monitor the patient rather than monitoring and recording an oximeter. Detailed information enables dealers to assist in the treatment of difficult patients, and offer distinct differentiating benefits to the referring physician or rehab clinics by providing information that has not previously been available.With Inspired Technologies’ CODR, a breathby- breath stream of data is available to manage patients, without manual recording.
